How to add teams to a program
How do I add Teams to a Program and make sure the Season matches?
Teams live inside a Program. When adding teams, make sure the team uses the same season as the program so rosters, invites, schedules, and team visibility stay aligned.
Before you add a Team
First confirm whether you need a separate team. A program can be used by itself if everyone shares the same roster, coaches, feed, calendar, and join flow.
Create a team when you need separate:
- Rosters
- Coaches
- Join codes
- Team Feed posts
- Calendars
- Team-specific settings
Add a Team inside a Program
- Log in to the SafeTeam web app.
- Open Programs from the left menu.
- Select the program you want to manage.
- Confirm the program season.
- Open the Teams tab.
- Click + Add New Team.
- Enter the team name and team details.
- Select the same season as the program.
- Save the team.
- Open the new team and review the team profile, roster, staff, invites, and settings.
Why the Team season should match the Program season
The team season should match the program season when the team belongs to that program's current season. This keeps the team connected to the correct program structure and helps prevent confusion with rosters, invitations, schedules, and user access.
If the team is created under a different season, athletes and households may not see what they expect, or staff may think a team is missing because they are viewing a different season context.
Check the Team after creating it
After creating a team, confirm:
- The team appears under the correct program.
- The team season matches the program season.
- Staff are assigned correctly.
- The team has the correct join code if families will join directly to the team.
- Athletes are rostered to the correct team.
- Schedule and Team Feed items are being created in the correct team context.
Tip
Before sending team invites or rostering athletes, double-check both the Program and Season. This is the easiest way to avoid inviting families into the wrong team or season.
